Planning Your Community Campaign
Get your Community Involved... Get Started!
- At least two months prior, select and organize your red ribbon
steering committee. Include adult and youth community members volunteer
organizations, churches, youth organizations, and school personnel.
- Introduce the Red Ribbon campaign for 2008.
- The Steering committee should create a timeline of events and tasks
to be accomplished. Decide who is responsible for each task. Establish a
series of meetings for planning and monitoring progress.
- Develop a large group of youth volunteers to assist with the
implementation phase of the campaign. Use schools, churches and youth
organizations for recruiting.
- Contact local media for coverage of the red ribbon campaign
activities. Use the existing Red Ribbon City Proclamation and PSAs
available online. See the Red Ribbon Week Media

- Check out the ISAIC website
www.drugfreeinfo.org for assistance, resources, information and
prevention and treatment programs.
- Implement your Red Ribbon Campaign during the week of Oct. 23 - 31.
- Celebrate the project completion, formally thank all committee
members, and do an evaluation for next year.
- Submit news articles, photos of events, and project evaluations to
us to share on the Red Ribbon
